How does Pointo work?

When a hiring manager at a company is looking to fill a position, she/he can create the job position in Pointo and then designate one or more trusted individuals, experts in the skill set that the company wants to find, to start referring either potential candidates or to designate other trusted inviduals to expand the search. Each referred person can either apply for the job or refer other trusted people. When the company decides to hire a candidate found through Pointo, and the successful hire’s probation period (if any) at the company ends, we pay a monetary reward to those people who helped connect the company with the hired candidate. So you can help your friends or professional contacts by either letting them know of a position they might be interested in, or by letting them leverage their network to get a monetary reward.  

 

How can I log into the platform?

Once you have received a Referral Invitation, you can log in using your LinkedIn account.

 

How can use Pointo if I don’t have a Linkedin account?

In order to use Pointo you need to have a LinkedIn account. Other identity managers will be added in the future.

 

How can I create a job position in Pointo?

At the moment we just operate via partnerships with selected hiring companies. Just get in contact with us at info@pointo-talent.com and we will support  you to create that job position.

 

Can I apply for the position?

Yes. If you think that your profile fits in a new role published on Pointo, go ahead and apply!

 

Can I refer someone else for the position?

Yes. If you know someone whose profile matches with the requirements of an open position published on Pointo you can refer that candidate. You are helping someone suitable for the position and also you have the chance of getting a reward for your referral.

 

How will I be informed about the progress of my referrals?

You can see the progress of the candidate search in our platform. You will see if the referrers you have designated to continue the process, or any possible candidate you have located, are having any activity, i.e., have your referrers expanded the message further? Have they referred other people? Are they active or are they standing still? If there is no activity from your referred people, we will notify you of this circumstance by email so you can take action: perhaps you can tell them to move quickly to increase your chances (and theirs) to get the reward, or you can think of other people who might help in the search and add them at that point in the process. While the search is open, you can add as many referrals as you want. Just please bear in mind to only add people who you think can truly help with the search, either because they seem to be a good fit for the position or because you think they know someone who might help.

 

Can I apply for the position after I have referred someone else?

Yes! In the main dashboard, click the drop down menu right by the job title, and you can click Apply.

 

Can I refer someone else after I have applied?

Yes! Go to the dashboard and click on “Refer People”.

 

When is the candidate search finished?

Every person involved in the process will be notified when the search has finished. It will be trigered after selecting one successful candidate, or when the search has gone for too long without a successful match. The hiring company manager will decide.

 

How many contacts can I provide? / How many people can I refer?

You can refer as many contacts as you consider. However, the more selective you are with your referred candidates, the higher are the chances that one of your candidates is selected to fulfill the open position.

 

Can I share the position in my social networks?

No. The only way we can keep track of the referral paths and therefore pay you accordingly is if you refer other people through Pointo. You only need to log into Pointo with your LinkedIn account and share the position with whoever you consider a fit by entering their email.

 

How can I send the position to someone else?

You only need to log into Pointo with your LinkedIn account and share the position with whoever you consider a fit by entering their email. If you forward any of our emails or post the position in your social networks, it will not work and it will be impossible to assign your reward payments properly.

 

Can I send the position to someone whose email I don’t know?

No. Please get in contact and get that person’s email. Remember you might be able to get a reward. Pointo is based on the network of trust that is created by professionals who know other professionals and can therefore recommend them or ask them to extend the search. It’s only natural that you either know those people’s email address or you have a good relationship and can ask for it.

 

What happens if I refer someone that is already involved in the candidate search?

Unfortunately it will not count as one of your referrals, as someone did it before you. You will be notified that that person is already in the process. However, you can still keep adding other people that you think can help.

 

Can I remove my account?

 

Yes. Please, get in contact with us in info@pointo-talent.com and we will remove it for you.

 

How can I stop being part of a candidate search?

You can always opt-out via the onboarding email you received at first (by clicking on the option “I can’t help”) or the platform (by clicking on the drop down menu right by the Job Title, and clicking “Opt Out”). Please note that if you opt-out after having already referred someone and it is through you that a Candidate is found and hired by the hiring company, the reward that you would have been entitled to will be distributed among the people you asked to help to continue the search or the person who introduced you into the search in the first place. Since you opt-out, you will no longer be entitled to a reward.

 

If I have said that I can’t help in a search but I want to be part of it again because I have thought of someone, how can I do it?

Currently you can’t, so please think it carefully before opting out of a candidate search. Since you can always opt-out at any point in time, perhaps it best to think first about those interns you had years ago, or that classmate you had who was always performing so well, or your recent ex-colleague in your last company who you admired so much. They might be interested!

 

Will I be paid by just sharing the name of a contact?

Only if your contact applies and is hired by the hiring company, or he/she refers someone that is hired by the hiring company. In order for us to be able to pay you we need to make sure we know how each person has been contacted, and we can only do this if you refer someone through our platform with their email. We will send them an email indicating that you think they can help with the candidate search, or that they may be a good candidate themselves. This is the only way we can be sure of the people who take part in a successful search, and therefore how we know who we must pay when a candidate is hired.

 

When will I be paid?

Once the hiring company hires a candidate, a probation period starts. Its duration depends on the company, but is typically between 3 and 6 months. When the probation period ends, if the candidate stays in the company we will proceed with reward payments. We will then make sure that all the people who helped find the hired candidate have provided us with the necessary information to proceed with the payments. Once this is done, we can then proceed with the payments.

 

How will I be paid?

We will issue an invoice in your name to Pointo Talent Ltd., which we will send to you by email, and we will proceed with the bank transfer to the account you have designated for the payment.

 

I have received an email indicating that a candidate I helped finding has been hired, but I haven’t received any payment. What’s going on?

Once the candidate is hired, there is a probation period during which we cannot proceed with the payments, until both the company and the candidate are satisfied with each other and we have checked that we have the necessary information from all the people involved in the search. When we are ready to proceed with payments we will let you know by email and through our platform. If you don’t receive the payment, please let us know by email (info@pointo-talent.com) and we will get in touch with you shortly.

 

Are you trying to steal my contacts?

No, we take data privacy very seriously. Pointo is about helping companies find better candidates and helping people find better jobs, while rewarding those who help in the search by leveraging their social network of contacts. All the information you provide will only be used for the specific job position you agreed to.

 

I am a hiring company: what would happen if we decide to hire a candidate found through Pointo but who was also found through other sourcing services, such as a headhunting firm?

Pointo expects companies to deliver the corresponding reward for candidates found first through Pointo. I am a hiring company: what would happen if we hire a candidate that was referred via Pointo but was also in our existing resume database?

We believe the value of the distributed recommendations that Pointo brings to the sourcing activities helps your company inform its hiring decisions, therefore we expect your company to deliver the corresponding reward for helping pinpoint that specific candidate, regardless of whether you knew they existed before or not.

 

I have helped found a candidate that has been hired, how should I manage the taxes of my reward?

Pointo will create an invoice that you issue to us so we can pay you against that invoice. It is your responsibility to declare your reward as part of your income in your tax filings. Pointo does not perform tax withholdings, but will share payments information if required by tax authorities as required by law in each geography.

 

Is there any other reward than just money?

For the time being we will reward your help with money, but you can choose to either receive it (please see the other FAQ items regarding payment) or to donate it to an NGO of your choice. In this case, we will donate the money on your behalf and will send you the appropriate receipt.
